World Cup 2018: Uruguay defeated Russia and reached the 1/8 finals from the first place

Wards Oscar Tabares confidently beat the Russians, thanks to which took first place in Group A (3: 0).

Uruguay

In the third round of the group stage of the World Cup, the leaders of group A - the combined teams of Uruguay and Russia came together to determine the winner of the quartet. The main coaches made some changes in the composition of their teams, releasing several reservists from the first minutes.

"Celeste" denoted their claims to victory from the very first minutes of the match, taking possession of the game and territorial advantage, so that the hosts of the tournament were forced to act as the second number. The first goal to the goal of Akinfeev did not take long to wait, at the 9th minute Gazinsky shot down Bentankura at the entrance to the penalty area, for which a dangerous standard was appointed. Suarez went to the ball and struck a direct shot into the goalkeeper's corner, and Akinfeev there did not help out - 1: 0.

Russians could quickly restore equality in the account after Dzyuba threw the ball Cheryshev, he struck the gate, but the blow was easy for Musler, who leveled the threat. Wards Cherchesova a few minutes spent in the attack, but then again gave the ball to the opponent, and soon missed the second goal - on the 23rd minute Laxalt played on the selection after the corner and struck the goal, the ball ricocheted from Cheryshev and flew into the net - 2: 0. Thus, Denis added an own goal to his three goals scored.

A little later, Suarez had the opportunity to bring the score to the devastating, but could not get out the winner of the in-duel with Akinfeev, and there was no one to finish. Closer to the end of the first 45 minutes of the Russian team's business became even worse, as it was in the minority because of the removal of Smolnikov for two yellow cards, so now the Russians' task was to avoid defeat, until the break they coped with this task, but ahead was still a full time.

Despite the advantage in possession of the ball, in the second half of the meeting Tabares' wards did not force the events on the field, content with leisurely control of the ball, and then gave it to the opponent at all. Over time, Cherchesov went all-in, releasing a second striker on the field, but Smolov's exit did not significantly strengthen his team's game. In the second half, the Russians had several good attacks, but could not complete at least one dangerous shot on goal.

In the end of the fight Uruguayans again seized the initiative and left the opponent without the ball, still deciding to try to score another goal. In one of the episodes, Kutepov was cut off in his own half of the field, thanks to which Suarez and Cavani ran out together on one defender, but Louis could not break through the gate nor give an accurate pass to Edinson. In addition, the replacement Rodriguez twice dangerously struck from outside the penalty area, but in both cases Akinfeev bailed out. But in the 90th minute, "Celeste" still brought the case to the scourge - Akinfeev repelled the blow of Godin's head, and Cavani was the first to finish and sent the ball into the net - 3: 0.

As a result, Uruguay did not experience any problems in a full-time meeting with Russia, having won an easy victory, and took the final first place in Group A, and the hosts of the tournament are satisfied with the second line in the standings. Both teams will recognize their rivals in 1/8 finals in a few hours following the matches Spain - Morocco and Iran - Portugal.
